Testimonies and Placements
Phil Rudd is 20, from Southampton, and in an intern on Carlisle Diocese Internships 2009/10. He’s doing his placement at St Thomas’ Church in Kendal, who take on interns anually. Here is what he has to say about the scheme…
“I decided to go for the Internship scheme for my gap year because not only is it loaded with youthwork experience but I will have a qualification in Christian youth work! What more could i ask for? My
calling is youthwork and this was the perfect gap year to equip me and move me forward on this journey.
My week conists of running various clubs in schools, as well as having an office and running groups at STK. We have such a variety of meetings, from the weekly youth congregation, “Drench” with around 80 young people, down to laid back “drop-in” style sessions. I love all the different experiences each group offers as i know it is such a good foundation for my future in youthwork.
I would recommend applying – there is a really good variety of placements available, and the chance to meet and be trained by some really great youth workers”
